Accessibility
Physical Accessibility & Mobility
Our studio is located on the 4th floor of an industrial warehouse building. Stylists can meet clients outside and guide them directly into the elevator from the street. Alternatively, entering the building independently requires using the intercom at the front entrance and manually opening two doors to access the elevator. Neither door is equipped with a power-assisted opener. However, the hallways and doorways along the route to the elevator and studio are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
Services can be performed either from one of our salon chairs or directly from a wheelchair. Our shampoo sinks are not currently set up to accommodate a wheelchair.
Our studio does not have a private restroom. However, a wheelchair-accessible restroom is available on the ground floor of the building and can be reached by elevator.
Our salon chairs have a weight capacity of up to 350 lbs.
Masking
Masking policies are determined individually by each stylist and can be found on their respective booking websites. For stylists who require masking, we ask that clients review and agree to their stylist’s policy when booking an appointment.
Wavelength provides complimentary surgical masks, and KN95 respirators are available for purchase for $3.
If you’d like your stylist to mask, please indicate in your intake when booking or let them know at the time of your appointment. We are happy to accommodate masking requests. If you have any further questions about masking, please contact your stylist.
Sensory Accessibility
Lighting: Our studio uses bright lighting as needed to accurately perform hair services
Fragrances: Please be aware that we are not a fragrance-free environment. Hair color, styling products, shampoos, fragrances, and other scented products are regularly used throughout the studio.
Noise: If you would like a quiet appointment with minimal conversation beyond your initial consultation, please let your stylist know in your intake when booking, or at the time of your appointment. When it comes to general noise levels in the studio, our studio tends to be busiest on weekdays after 5 PM, while weekday mornings and afternoons and weekends are generally quieter and less full. We normally have music playing at a conversational volume in the salon. Stylists often use blow dryers which generate additional noise.
If you have additional questions or requests regarding sensory accommodations, please contact your stylist.
Restrooms
Our studio does not have a private restroom. Gendered and gender neutral restrooms are available in our shared hallway on the 4th floor. There is a wheelchair-accessible restroom on the ground floor which can be reached by elevator
Service Animals & Pets
Service animals are welcome at Wavelength. We also allow well-behaved pet dogs in the studio. Please be aware that on Sundays, one of the stylists normally brings a small dog to work. If this creates an issue please let us know in advance of your appointment.
If you have additional questions or requests regarding accessibility, or if you would like to discuss specific accommodations before your visit, please contact your stylist directly. For general info please email us at contact@wavelengthhairbk.com
